Czech is a Slavic language that dates back to the 11th century. It is a very rich language and a difficult one for a non-Slavic speaker to learn. We run a whole separate website dedicated to this beautiful language. Local Lingo offers an overview of Czech grammar, a pronunciation guide, lots of phrases and vocabulary, and some online exercises for you to practice your Czech.
If you’re just coming to Czechia for a visit, you’ll do fine learning a few basic phrases. As a matter of fact, you don’t need to know any Czech in Prague where English is widely spoken, but we think it’s always nice to be able to say a few words in the local language. If you travel to smaller Czech towns or villages, you may find that English is not spoken there much, at least not by the older generation.
